Freedom is the basis of our
government, the goal of our wars, the subject of our art and music. The
eagle, the buffalo, the Statue of Liberty, and the Liberty Bell all
symbolize our love of freedom. Phrases like Land of the Free, Home of the
Brave, Liberty and Justice for All, the Melting Pot, the Arsenal of
Democracy, the Star-Spangled Banner, and the Greatest Nation on Earth evoke
deep emotions of patriotism for this great land. And
yet the great monuments to freedom are the lives of those whose sacrifices
have preserved it - the men and women of America's armed forces and those
Americans who have supported the needs of the military in times of crisis.
Officers and enlistees, draftees and volunteers, all are committed to the
defense of liberty; on the ground, on the seas, in the air, at home, and on
distant shores.
For some of these patriots, service has meant marching,
sailing or flying into the face of battle. For all, it has meant long
separations from friends and family, the acceptance of discipline over
indulgence, a never-ending, diligent watch against the enemies of peace. For
some, the military has been a career, while others have served and then
returned to civilian life.
To honor all of America's patriots who have faithfully
served this great country, in times of war and peace, America Remembers, and
its military affiliate, the Armed Forces Commemorative Society, have
authorized the American Patriot Pistol. A fully functional Colt .45,
polished, etched and decorated in 24-karat gold by craftsmen specifically
commissioned by America Remembers. It honors not only those
who have gone to war, but all the millions who for two centuries have kept
our armed forces strong and prepared.
The Classic Colt .45 - Partner In Combat
There could be no better way to honor our troops than with
the legendary military sidearm which has served them for so long - the Colt
.45.
From the trenches of World War I in Europe to the beaches of
Normandy to the jungles of Vietnam, the Colt has been at the side of our
troops through the most brutal and difficult combat conditions. Through mud
and rain, sweltering heat and icy cold, it has performed with total
reliability and efficiency.
For the American Patriot Tribute, the handsome blued
finish of this all-American classic has been dressed up with splendid
24-karat gold decorations, celebrating our great nation with patriotic
American symbols.

Two golden images of an American eagle adorn the left side
of the slide, one in flight to symbolize the soaring spirit of freedom the
other defiantly gripping the American flag in a protective stance. Between
them is the inscription, "Arsenal of Democracy."

By the pistol's gold-plated hammer, is the torch of Lady
Liberty. On the hammer's right side is an image of the Colonial Minuteman,
representing America's earliest defenders, and the continuing resolve of our
troops to to be ready at a minute's notice.
Each owner of the American Patriot may have their name, or
that of a loved one, permanently inscribed on the right side of the gun,
surrounded by an ornate banner and scrollwork. This tribute is available to
all Americans wishing to display their patriotism and support for America's
troops.
Each pistol is fitted with an attractive pair of special
presentation grade rosewood grips featuring the Rampant Colt medallion, or
if desired, a medallion representing a specific branch of the armed forces.
A Proud Display of Patriotism
To display the American Patriot Pistol to its full
effect, the Society has designed a special presentation case. The walnut
case has a glass top to allow for viewing while protecting the gun from
dust.

"The truth is, all might be free if
they valued freedom, and defended it as they ought."
-
Samuel Adams
The awesome might of America's armed forces have preserved
our freedoms for over two centuries, but all the hardware and
technology means nothing without the dedication and devotion of the millions
of men and women who are willing to serve - both in the military and at home
supplying the needs of the military. They are what Franklin Roosevelt
called, "The Arsenal of Democracy."
The American Patriot Tribute provides an opportunity to
honor these great patriots. Thanks to them, America continues to be a beacon
of hope to lovers of freedom across the globe.
