America Remembers proudly announces the
Colt®
Single Action Army Buntline Miniature. You are invited to subscribe to
this historic issue, which is licensed by Colt's Manufacturing Company,
Inc. and issued by The United States Society of Arms and Armour, the
antique arms affiliate of America Remembers.
The history behind the Buntline SAA makes this
model one of the most romantic and intriguing revolvers ever produced by
Colt. Only a limited number of the Buntlines were produced by the factory.
Legend has it that Ned Buntline, dime-novel author and showman, ordered
five Buntlines as gifts to five Dodge City lawmen, including Wyatt Earp
and Bat Masterson. No one knows with certainty if these famous lawmen did
in fact receive these special revolvers, and the debate continues today.
Each of the official Buntline Special
miniatures is a faithful copy of the original Colt, including the flat
topped frame with adjustable folding rear sight. This variation has not
previously been available to collectors of the Colt miniature series. R.L.
Wilson noted firearms authority and author says, "The craftsmanship of
the miniature Buntline is exquisite. The detail is superb."
The Classic
Edition is available in a limited edition of 1500. The
frame is case-hardened, and the balance of the revolver is blued. Custom
grips of select walnut complete this exceptional issue.
The
Presidential Edition, issued in a limited edition of 1500,
is hand-engraved in a traditional Colt pattern. All parts are blued,
except for the frame which is case-hardened. The grips are select walnut.
Each miniature is fully functional. For
safety reasons, no attempt should be made to fire these miniatures as this
could cause serious injury and damage the miniature.
