Celebrating the Legacy of the Old West -
A Tribute to the Frontier Days of Cowboys and Indians
|
From the noble and proud
heritage of the American Indian to the earliest scouts and explorers ...
from the cowboys on the open range to the famed lawmen and outlaws of the
Old West ... and to the hardy settlers who risked danger and peril
traveling across unknown territory, Americans continue to be intrigued by
the legend and lore of the frontier days of the Old West.
Magnificently capturing this fascinating era in American history is the
National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center in Oklahoma City.
The museum, with more than 200,000 square feet, houses one of America's
most comprehensive collections of art and artifacts from the Old West.
America Remembers proudly presents a tribute that captures the spirit of
the old West on a classic lever action rifle.

Left side of receiver captures Frederic Remington's famous bronze
sculpture, the rip-roaring "Coming Through the Rye." The statue features
four exuberant cowboys riding at full gallop and firing their six-guns in the air as they
celebrate and enjoy a break from their daily routine, a scene we envision as life in the
Old West. All artwork is featured in 24-karat gold with a blackened patinaed
background for maximum detail and contrast.

|

|
Right side of receiver features "The End of the Trail," perhaps
one of the best-known symbols of the American West, depicting the changing way of life for
the American Indians in the late 1800's and the end of their freedom to live and move
freely on the Western Plains. The scene is framed by elaborate scrollwork, and
featured in the center is a banner inscribed with "National Cowboy Hall of Fame,
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma."

The rifle's barrel bands, lever, trigger, hammer, sight, and magazine cap
are decorated in 24-karat gold and polished to a lustrous shine. The walnut stocks
are hand-polished and laser carved with additional artwork from the museum's collection,
including Frederic Remington's "The Mountain Man."
