For 200 years, the United States
Military Academy has trained America's "best and brightest" for leadership
and service to the Nation. After America's Independence, our Founding
Fathers had the wisdom to realize that protecting the freedoms that the
United States represented would require a professionally trained military.
On March 16, 1802, Congress enacted legislation to establish a military
academy at West Point.
In honor of the Bicentennial celebration of the United States Military
Academy, America Remembers in cooperation with the Association of Graduates
of the United States Military Academy, is proud to present the West Point
Bicentennial Tribute Revolver, a handsomely decorated revolver honoring West
Point and all the cades who have been a part of the "Long Grey Line."

Each revolver is polished and decorated by craftsmen
specifically commissioned by America Remembers. The revolver is
polished and glistens with its gleaming nickel finish. The artwork
on the Tribute is applied in 24-karat gold with special blackened patinaed
highlights to accentuate the detail.

On the cylinder, you will find six images of cadets in
uniform from six different time periods in Academy history. The
earliest cadet is from approximately 1812. Other cadet images
feature uniforms from the early 1820's, the Mexican War period, the Civil
War era, and today's uniform, which has remained the standard for more
than 100 years, with only minor changes since its original adoption.
The West Point motto, "Duty-Honor-Country" is also dramatically
featured in a circular banner around the cylinder.
Flowing scrollwork in
the tradition of the finest presentation firearms adorns the frame.
On both sides of the barrel of the Tribute, the legend "U.S. Military
Academy Bicentennial Tribute" is featured, along with the official
West Point Bicentennial Logo, which has been adopted by the Academy for
the Bicentennial celebration.
