On December 7, 1941 at 7:55 A.M., the Naval Base at Pearl Harbor was
attacked by 360 planes from the Japanese Imperial Fleet. President
Roosevelt broadcast the now famous message the next day -
"Yesterday, December 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy - the
United States was deliberately attacked by the naval and air forces of the
Empire of Japan." He concluded the speech confidently predicting
that "with the unbounding determination of our people we will gain
the inevitable victory."

The Armed Forces Commemorative Society proudly
honors the U.S. Marines who served in the Pacific Theater by authorizing
the "Golden Anniversary Marine Pacific Tribute." In the Pacific,
the Marines turned the tide of war against Japan and stopped the enemy.
With their blood they wrote the greatest story in the history of
amphibious warfare.

The gun selected for this tribute is a
fully functional Colt Government Model .45. The slide is clad in 24-karat
gold signifying the 50th Anniversary of the Pacific Theater. Along the
left side of the slide are etched legends to the Marines in the Pacific.
Etched amidst the image of the Marine flag-raising at Iwo Jima, is the
Marine credo, "Semper Fidelis," (Always Faithful.)
Above the scene is Admiral Nimitz's tribute to the Marines:
"Uncommon Valor Was A Common Virtue." The right side portrays a
Marine landing in the island hopping campaign.

Americans rallied around the cry of "Remember Pearl Harbor."
Now, more than sixty years later, we must never forget the sacrifices made by our
servicemen in the Pacific Theater. In lasting tribute to all the brave
servicemen, the Armed Forces Commemorative Society is pleased to authorize
the World War II Golden Anniversary Pacific Tribute. The Tribute will become a
family heirloom to admire and to pass on to future generations, ensuring
that valiant sacrifices made by our family, such as our grandfathers,
fathers, and brothers, will never be forgotten.
