“I live for myself and answer to nobody.”
– Steve McQueen

Steve McQueen Full Left

Steve McQueen was a true American original in every sense of the word. He was a rebel and a Hollywood icon who lived life by his own code. McQueen was the original anti-establishment hero, the tough guy who wasn’t afraid to break the rules. On-screen and off, he captivated the country with his style, his confidence and most importantly, his sense of cool.

When viewing any classic Steve McQueen film, it becomes instantly clear why he deserves to reign as a timeless Hollywood icon. In 1963’s The Great Escape, McQueen boldly revs his motorcycle when the Nazis come charging over the hill, a hint of a smirk on his face. In 1968’s Bullitt, he tears down the highway at more than 100 miles per hour in that gorgeous 1968 Mustang GT. And even if you watch these legendary scenes, or his many others, over and over, you will never see Steve McQueen lose his cool.

There will never be another Steve McQueen. That’s why America Remembers is extremely proud to introduce an exclusive new issue, authorized by the family of Steve McQueen and honoring this unforgettable American legend: The Steve McQueen™ Tribute Pistol.

In choosing an appropriate canvas for the Steve McQueen™ Tribute Pistol, we wanted a sidearm as timeless and enduring as the man and his movies. The clear choice was the classic Colt® Government Model® Pistol in .45 ACP, a true American icon that many of its owners consider one of the best pistols ever made. We believe it is the perfect pistol to honor McQueen’s status as an American icon. It was a favorite firearm for Steve McQueen, and he always kept his Colt .45 pistol close at hand for protection.

Craftsmen commissioned specifically for this project by America Remembers decorate each working Colt .45 pistol in sparkling 24-karat gold and nickel with a blackened patinaed background to highlight the details of the artwork, honoring this iconic Hollywood legend.

Both sides of the slide feature detailed portraits of Steve McQueen accented in stunning 24-karat gold. When McQueen’s smoldering good looks, piercing blue eyes and tough guy swagger first hit the big screen, he was able to outshine even veteran stars. Eventually his exploits and reputation off-screen grew to rival his performances on-screen.

Steve McQueen Right CU

Both sides also feature nickel-finished, decorative banners reading, “Steve McQueen.” The center of the right side features an authentic depiction of Steve McQueen’s signature. As a final touch of elegance, “SMQ” is prominently displayed on each side. Featured in nickelplating over a blued steel background, this detail adds an extra touch of simplistic cool to the overall timeless design.
