This Tribute is a handsomely decorated, working Model 1866 Rifle in caliber .44-40 that salutes many of the great leaders from the Eastern tribes as well as the Indians of the Southwest and the Plains.

It is also noteworthy that the original conception and artwork for this Tribute was produced for America Remembers by Brian Campbell, a highly-skilled artist of Native American descent who specializes in Native American and Western artwork.

The Model 1866 YellowBoy — A Legendary Rifle

The Model 1866 was a classic rifle of the American frontier. In its early days, the Model 1866 was known by many names, but the Native American warriors nicknamed it “Yellowboy” for the way sunlight reflected off its golden brass receiver. It was a favorite firearm for Indian warriors on the Western frontier, who relied on the rifle for hunting and in battle.

Each Tribute is a meticulously detailed recreation of the legendary Winchester Model 1866 rifle, produced by the master craftsmen of Uberti. Craftsmen commissioned specifically by America Remembers decorate each rifle in 24-karat gold and nickel with a special blackened patinaed background to highlight the detailed portraits. The gold decorated hammer, lever, forearm cap, magazine cap and butt plate add to the rifle’s appeal.

Delivery will be arranged through a licensed firearms dealer of your choice. And if you are not completely satisfied with your Tribute after your personal inspection, you may return it in original unfired condition within 30-days for a complete refund.

Native American Warriors Tribute Rifle - Stock

A screaming eagle has been laser-etched into the rich walnut stock, which represented courage, power and freedom to the Native American people.

Right side features Satanta, celebrated war chief of the Kiowa tribe. As a skilled orator, he negotiated several treaties with the American government but would be best known for his skills on the battlefield, including the raid on Adobe Walls. Prominently featured is Apache tribal chief Mangus Coloradas, who is regarded as one of the most important Native American leaders of the 19th century. Also featured is the Mohawk leader, Thayendanegea, also known as Joseph Brant. Brant was a key fighter in many French and Indian War expeditions and took part in some of the most notable conflicts of the American Revolution. Each portrait features a banner proclaiming the name and tribal affiliation of each leader. Featured throughout the artwork are symbols associated with the great warriors, including spears, arrowheads and eagle feathers.

Left side features Osceola, a young Seminole war chief. When the U.S. government ordered the Florida tribes to move to unsettled Indian territories, Osceola organized a group of resistors and proved himself a capable leader. Featured next is Poundmaker, a Plains Cree chief known as a passionate peacemaker and dedicated defender of his tribe. Prominently featured is the legendary Lakota leader, Crazy Horse. Since no known photographs of Crazy Horse exist, the portrait is an artist’s impression compiled from first-hand descriptions. Celebrated for his ferocity in battle, Crazy Horse was recognized among his people as a visionary leader committed to preserving the traditions and values of the Lakota way of life. Also featured is Black Hawk, a great war chief of the Sauk, Fox, and Kickapoo. Black Hawk opposed the encroachment of the government and settlers who were determined to push his people West, eventually becoming a celebrity and sealing himself as a legend.

All artwork is featured in stunning 24-karat gold and nickel with a 24-karat gold decorated lever, hammer, butt plate and forearm end cap.
