The United States Marine Corps was spawned by America’s fight for independence. On November 10, 1775, the Continental Congress resolved … that two battalions of Marines be raised, setting into motion a brotherhood of tradition, bravery and sacrifice that would always hold fast on the front line battles for freedom. From “the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli,” from the American Revolution to the Persian Gulf, the Marines have always been there when America needed them, upholding the tradition of duty, honor and country.
Now, America Remembers has teamed with the Marine Corps Association to issue an exclusive Tribute honoring the proud and storied tradition of the Marine Corps – the Leatherneck Tribute M1 Garand Rifle. This handsome museum-quality Tribute is a work of superb craftsmanship celebrating the dedication to duty of all those who have proudly served in the United States Marine Corps — defending our country in times of war and peace.
For those who served in the Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War, the M1 was much more than a rifle … it was a trusted companion and best friend. Introduced shortly before World War II, the M1 Garand was the first semiautomatic rifle to be utilized by a major military power, and was the designated American service rifle.
The M1 Garand was designed for long-range accuracy and could be fired with a much greater rapidity and less recoil than previous military rifles. With an effective range of approximately 450 yards, the M1 Garand afforded America’s fighting men with a decided advantage over their foes. In combat, the M1 Garand proved extremely sturdy and reliable, and the rifle played a key role in the Marines “island hopping” campaigns in the Pacific and later in the Korean War.
Perhaps the most ringing endorsement of the weapon from World War II was attributed to General George S. Patton, Jr., who stated, “In my opinion, the M1 rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised.” Against impossible odds, armed with courage, love of country and their trusted M1 Garand … a generation of Marines changed history.
The Springfield Armory® is producing a very limited number of the M1 Garand rifles with an all new receiver, barrel and stock, with all the remaining parts U.S.G.I. Mil-spec and we selected this rifle for the Tribute. Craftsmen commissioned specifically for this project by America Remembers decorate each M1 Garand with handsome artwork in 24-karat gold honoring the Marines and their time-honored “Esprit de Corps” — that special spirit of camaraderie and devotion shared by all Marines who have served in the United States Marine Corps.

On the M1’s bottom trigger housing, flowing scrollwork surrounds a banner with the legend “Marine Corps Association, Since 1913, Tradition and Service” representing the commitment of the MCA to foster the spirit and preserve the tradition of the Marine Corps.
The M1’s walnut stocks are highly polished and adorned with laser-carved artwork representing the Marines heritage and legacy. Each side of the rifle’s buttstock proudly honors the Marine’s “Finest Hour,” the grueling and hard-fought victory at Iwo Jima. The raising of the American flag marked a turning point for the War in the Pacific. On the right side, the heritage of the Corps is honored with the revered eagle, globe and anchor emblem.
The left side of the receiver is decorated with 24-karat gold. Artwork features a Marine taking aim with his M1 Garand just after an amphibious landing during the Pacific campaign. Also proudly displayed is a banner bearing the hallowed Marine Corps motto, “Semper Fi,” or “Always Faithful.”
