The Henry Rifle is recreated in exacting detail with “A Nation Reunited: The Civil War Tribute.” The world-renowned gunmakers of Uberti have gone to great lengths to faithfully capture this masterpiece of American firearms engineering as it existed in the 1860’s.
On the right side, Generals Lee and Grant sign the peace agreement in the front parlor of Wilmer McLean’s house at Appomattox Court House, Virginia. The likenesses of these two giants of history comes alive in this highly detailed image featured in gold and nickel with an elegant blued background.
On the left of the receiver, a typical Civil War battle unfolds. A Confederate regiment streams over a split-rail fence, following the “Stars-and-Bars” standard in an assault on Union defenders. The detail in the uniforms and ordnance, combined with lifelike positioning and expressions of the participants, creates a compelling “snapshot” of combat. The image has been created in nickel and gold, and highlighted with a blued background.
Decorated For Valor
Like the original Henry’s, the frame of the Tribute is made of brass, with a handsomely blued half octagonal barrel, with tubular magazine in one piece forged steel, measuring 24 1/4 inches in length. Fully functional and made for use with.44-40 caliber ammunition, the rifle features an authentic elevated sight on the breech of the barrel, and walnut stocks.
Nickel and 24-karat gold decorations commissioned specifically for this issue by the United States Society of Arms & Armour, the Antique Arms Affiliate of America Remembers, capture the Civil War era at the height of battle and at its conclusion.
On the left side of the receiver, a battle scene unfolds, while on the right, Generals Lee and Grant sign the documents which will bring the war to a close. On both sides of the receiver, a bugler brings his horn to his lips, first to sound the charge and then to sound “cease fire.” Every day, the Civil War soldier’s life moved to the sound of bugle calls, from reveille to taps with a dozen calls a day in between.
Completing the museum-quality refinements to the Henry’s design, the lever and butt plate, carrier block and magazine follower, are polished and clad in 24-karat gold. The Tribute faithfully recreates one of the most important examples of American firearms design, enhanced with specially commissioned artwork to create an heirloom that will be treasured for generations.
