Celebrate America’s Favorite Big Game Experience with a Handsome Collector Firearm
Featuring Artwork from the Acclaimed Wildlife Artist…Ron Van Gilder
America Remembers introduces the American Whitetails Trophy Rifle. This collector firearm features artwork of the American whitetail deer from the award-winning artist Ron Van Gilder.
It happens every year in America. Millions head into the wilderness in search of the ultimate prize. Perhaps you’re one of them. You fade into the background and wait for hours in spectacular weather, or sometimes in bitter cold, pouring rain, or falling snow. You wait for a rustle in the leaves, and then you hear something approaching. Your heart races as you wait with anticipation – will this be the buck of your dreams, perhaps a trophy class 10-pointer? As he approaches, you hope the wind doesn’t shift, that he doesn’t spook, and time stands still long enough for you to take a deep breath, aim, and fire.
However your story ends, if you’re like millions of other American sportsmen, it’s the love of the hunt that brings you back every Fall. You wait all year for Fall to arrive, when the leaves start to turn and cooler weather arrives. The excitement and anticipation of the first day of hunting raises your heartbeat and nothing matches the adrenaline of this special day.
These days, fewer and fewer American pastimes can truly be considered rites of passage, but hunting is a time-honored tradition, a cherished pastime which has been handed down from generation to generation. It’s a time when fathers and sons take to the outdoors together, and for generations of sportsmen, the American Whitetail has proved itself the ultimate test of strategy and skill. The sprawling antlers and physical power of a mature buck make him an impressive combination of grace, strength, and beauty.
Today, America Remembers salutes the whitetail deer and the passionate sportsmen who pursue them each year with the “American Whitetails Trophy” Rifle, a handsomely decorated Winchester Model 94 rifle in caliber .30-30. As you know, the Winchester Model 94 is a classic American made lever-action rifle with a reputation for excellence that goes back more than 100 years. From the frontiersmen of the Old West to the sportsmen of today, it has been a favorite for whitetail deer hunters and certainly ranks as one of the most popular sporting rifles of all time.
Ron Van Gilder: Wildlife Artist
To capture the grandeur and majesty of the whitetail deer, America Remembers selected artwork from one of America’s favorite wildlife artists, Ron Van Gilder. An a award-winning artist, Ron Van Gilder has spent years studying wildlife in their natural habitat, and has always regarded the whitetail deer as one of his favorite big game animals. His paintings and drawings are like snapshots. Some are stolen moments of majestic calm; others are frozen bursts of action. “Every year I expand my travels to see and learn firsthand from wildlife in their natural habitat,” Ron Van Gilder said, “My paintings are my way to share the experience.”
Ron Van Gilder enjoys the outdoors and is an avid sportsman. For three months each Fall, he dedicates himself to field study, using much of the time to photograph wildlife in its natural habitat, which allows him to capture extraordinary detail in his wildlife paintings, and he especially enjoys painting whitetails in their natural environment. A talented artist, Ron Van Gilder has received many prestigious awards for his work.
For this Trophy, we selected whitetail deer artwork from Ron Van Gilder’s distinguished portfolio of classic whitetails. Craftsmen commissioned specifically for this Tribute by America Remembers have captured Ron Van Gilder’s remarkable artwork in magnificent detail, and translated the realism of the artwork to each Trophy rifle. They decorate each collector firearm in elegant 24-karat gold and nickel with a special blackened patinaed background to highlight the details of the artwork, capturing the splendor of the whitetail deer in a natural setting.
The rifle’s stocks are hand-polished walnut, and elegantly laser-carved with an image of a proud whitetail buck on the shoulder stock and the title “American Whitetails” on the forearm. On both sides of the buttstock is a portrait of another impressive trophy buck and a recreation of the signature of the artist, Ron Van Gilder.
On the left side of the receiver of this collector firearm, two does trail a buck that bounds out of the thick brush adapted from Ron Van Gilder’s classic painting,“Breaking Cover – Whitetail Deer.” A banner above the deer reads “American Whitetails.”
The right side of the receiver features two magnificent trophy whitetail bucks. These trophy bucks represent the dream buck every hunter longs to discover in the wild. Surrounded by elegant scrollwork, these handsome bucks exude a noble strength as they cautiously scan their surroundings for any hint of danger. Elegant scrollwork in 24-karat gold frames the artwork on both sides of the receiver and adds the finishing touch to this museum-quality collector firearm.
