A Handsome Colt .45 Pistol A Collector Firearm Dedicated to the Tankers of World War II
America Remembers introduces the Battle Tanks of World War II Tribute Pistol. This edition of commemorative firearms is a Tribute to those who courageously fought against, alongside, or inside the battle tanks of World War II.
“There are two kinds of infantry; men who have gone into action with Tanks, and men who have not; and the former never want to go into action without Tanks again. “
– Monsieur Loucher, French Minister of Munitions,
January 1919
Tanks were introduced into military combat during World War I. By the start of World War II, soldiers came to dread the familiar grinding noise of tank treads across the battlefield.
In a conflict that spanned continents, courageous tankmen (known as “tankers”) forever changed the face of modern warfare. Tanks became the backbone of both the Allied and Axis ground forces and countries worked constantly to improve their armored might, fine-tuning the once clumsy battle tank into one of the most formidable and versatile weapons the battlefield had yet experienced.
America Remembers is proud to introduce a handsome Tribute in honor of the landmark development of the tank in World War II and the brave soldiers who shared the battlefield with it: The Battle Tanks of World War II Tribute Pistol. This handsome commemorative firearm, honoring these true legends of combat, from both sides of the battle, is a working Colt® Government Model® Pistol in caliber .45 ACP. Craftsmen commissioned specifically for this project by America Remembers decorate each Tribute in stunning 24-karat gold artwork, featuring the most powerful armored fighting machines of World War II.
The Classic Military .45 Pistol
The Battle Tanks of World War II Tribute Pistol is a working Colt .45 pistol, faithful to those issued to American World War II tanker crews. Tank crews regularly found themselves in the thick of the roughest fighting of World War II, from the frozen wilderness of the Eastern Front to the sweltering jungles of Asia and from the beaches of Normandy to the scorched deserts of North Africa. Next to his comrades and training, a soldier relies most on his combat equipment. Nothing was more deserving of this trust than the Colt .45 pistol, the most powerful military pistol in service during the war.

The left side of this commemorative firearm features the most respected tanks of the Western Front, with the Tribute’s name, “Battle Tanks of World War II,” highlighted in the center. The British Churchill first saw action in 1942 in North Africa and Europe, eventually proving invaluable in clearing paths during the D-Day invasion of Normandy. America’s workhorse, the M4 Sherman, was praised for its mechanical reliability and ability to cross rough terrain, with its combat success coming from sheer numbers. The German Tiger was a heavy tank that could withstand a frontal assault from almost any Allied tank, and the fast-moving German Panzer IV was a key weapon in the Nazi arsenal.
The right side features key tanks of the Pacific Theater and Eastern Front. Japan’s Type 95 light tank is featured. The American Stuart was a light tank used by U.S. forces. Outgunned by more powerful German tanks, the Stuart’s 37mm gun proved effective against the Japanese army. The Russian T-34 was widely considered the most advanced tank for its era and was instrumental in pushing back the Germans on the Eastern Front. The German Panther combined an increased armor-piercing capacity and the ability to strike accurately from a long distance.
