America Remembers presents the Clint Walker Tribute Rifle which is a fitting tribute to an American who represents the highest ideals of the Old West. This collector firearm is decorated with artwork honoring Clint Walker and his legendary western career.
Clint Walker stands tall among the great Hollywood cowboys, and not just because he is six-feet tall. Through his groundbreaking role in the television series Cheyenne, Clint Walker set a high standard for Western heroes. The series was one of the original “adult westerns” and helped to establish westerns as a favorite of television viewers in the late 50’s and through the 60’s. On screen, he was always the man to look to in times of danger. Clint Walker kept a cool head and could be counted on to act swiftly and decisively. When faced with injustice, he’d risk everything to make certain things were put right. Off screen, Clint Walker has always had the same quiet strength and moral center as his characters.
Millions of fans fondly remember Clint Walker best from his days as “Cheyenne Bodie,” who was the orphan son of a couple killed on a wagon train journey to the frontier. Raised from infancy to the age of 12 by Cheyenne Indians and later adopted by a frontier family, Cheyenne Bodie came to represent the highest ideals of both cultures. This left him uniquely suited to the role that fell to him in every episode; defender of the oppressed and champion of justice. Cheyenne Bodie was the intrepid frontier scout who wandered from town to town and job to job, landing in a dangerous situation every week. These weekly episodes consistently ranked Cheyenne as one of the most popular shows on television. Cheyenne was an hour-long “adult Western” that debuted in September 1955 and enjoyed immense popularity for a total of eight season and 108 episodes, with Cheyenne going on to become Warner’s #1 television series.
Clint Walker is a huge man who despite his size, conveys a sense of gentleness. His voice is deep, but he speaks in soft tones. Every move Clint Walker makes conveys the image of a man whose great strength takes a back seat to his kind heart. A few adjustments had to be made for Clint’s great size of course. Villains had to measure in at over 6 feet just to make for a fair fight, and many a leading lady had to stand on a stool or a box to kiss Clint Walker for the cameras.
Clint Walker was successful in a number of films, including the Doris Day comedy “Send Me No Flowers, ” Frank Sinatra’s “None But The Brave,” the classic “The Night of the Grizzly” and the blockbuster WWII drama, “The Dirty Dozen.” Audiences appreciated Clint Walker’s serious approach to cowboy roles and could sense his genuine interest in the freedom and challenges the West presented for settlers.
The left side of the receiver features a detailed portrait of Clint Walker, the legendary Western star. Clint’s strong jaw and piercing eyes are captured in remarkable detail. To the right is an image of Clint in action – crouched behind a rock for cover as he reloads his rifle. Between these two images is a banner bearing the legend, “Clint Walker.”
The right side of the receiver features an image of Clint on horseback with his revolver drawn. On his face is the somber, determined look of a man riding into certain danger.
