Honoring The Remarkable Career Of A True Hollywood Legend
There are few people who have made a successful transition from stunt work to acting and even fewer who have made it at nearly 60 years of age. He began his career, at age 17, as one of the youngest stuntmen in Hollywood, and ended it as the oldest “Best Actor” nominee in the history of the Academy Awards.
Over the years, Richard Farnsworth worked with some of history’s greatest screen legends, stars like Gary Cooper, Kirk Douglas, Roy Rogers, Charlton Heston and many more. Countless movie heroes built their he-man reputations on the stunt-work Farnsworth did in anonymity, but in time he took his place alongside them as one of America’s best-loved actors. No matter how popular he became, Richard Farnsworth remained a simple cowboy at heart; much more at home in the saddle than under the bright lights in Hollywood.
In recognition of his many talents, and legendary career, America Remembers presents “The Richard Farnsworth Tribute Rifle.” When we approached Richard about this project, he enthusiastically agreed to cooperate with us to produce this special Tribute. We agreed to produce the Tribute on the classic Winchester Model ’94 rifle in caliber .30-30 and limit the edition to 100 Tributes.
Working with Diamond Farnsworth, Richards son, and Jewel Van Valin, his fiancée, the artists for this Tribute have created a magnificent design that elegantly captures Richard Farnsworth. Each rifle in the edition is decorated in 24-karat gold and nickel by craftsmen specifically commissioned by America Remembers for this project.
The left side of the receiver features three detailed portraits. In the center portrait, Richard holds a six-shooter in a pose that brings to mind early photographs from the days of the Old West. To the left he is shown as a rugged cowboy and to the right is an image of him as a modern day rancher with his warm, friendly smile that established a special rapport with his many fans. A flowing banner bears the legend “Richard Farnsworth.”
The right side of the receiver features a magnificent image of Farnsworth on horseback, demonstrating the relaxed skill of a master horseman. In his smile is all the joy of a veteran cowboy who finds himself once again riding the range. To the right is a detailed close-up portrait capturing his friendly features. The portrait captures his friendly features that won over so many audiences in the course of his career. Elaborate scroll-work in 24-karat gold surrounds the images.
Encircling each portrait and framing the artwork on the receiver is a braided rope design. The American walnut forearm and shoulder stock feature splendid artwork further enhancing the overall appearance of this museum-quality firearm. It is only fitting that such distinctive metal artistry be matched by equally elegant wood. On both side of the shoulder stock, our artisans laser-etched a striking portrait of Richard Farnsworth, framed by intricate scroll-work. The forearm features Richard Farnsworth’s signature accompanied by laser-etched scroll-work. A brilliant gloss finish adds a sleek touch to this handsomely embellished firearm.
Richard Farnsworth did something a lot of us only dream about – he found a way to live a cowboy’s life amid the hustle and bustle of the 20th Century. He took us along with him on his adventures, and we loved him for it. This is your opportunity to honor his life and legend, and at the same time acquire a handsomely decorated firearm. In your home or office, this Tribute will be a delightful reminder of a remarkable person, a man who worked in many of the action films produced during the golden age of Hollywood, and whose performances we enjoyed on the silver screen. I hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity and reserve your Tribute today.
