Remembering Our Defenders of Freedom
Paying Tribute to All Who Have Served in the U.S. Military with a Classic American Colt Pistol
The United States of America was created by courage. More than 240 years ago, our forefathers found the strength and determination to stand up to their oppressors and declare independence. It was a decision that demanded immediate action. And it was a decision that required them to unite and fight for what they believed in. Without courage, our great nation would not exist. Throughout our history, we have come together to defend ourselves and our freedoms.
- We never back down. We never give up.
- Today’s battlefield looks nothing like the battlefields of the past.
- Our fight is changing. Our world is changing.
But one thing remains constant: the United States military.
Our flag flies high today because of those who fought from Bunker Hill and Belleau Wood to Normandy, and Khe Sanh to the Gulf region. And the men and women of our armed forces continue to be an inspiration. They put their lives on the line to protect our way of life. Their service and sacrifice are debts that we can never fully repay, and we can never thank them enough.
Inspired by its storied history of service, we transformed this iconic American firearm into an impressive patriotic salute to all who served and were a part of the Greatest Generation… and every military generation that has followed.
The Salute to the Military Tribute Pistol is issued exclusively by America Remembers. The Tribute is a working Colt Model 1903 .32 ACP caliber pistol, issued in a limited edition of 250. Craftsmen commissioned specifically for this project by America Remembers decorate each pistol in sparkling 24-karat gold and nickel artwork, transforming this iconic firearm into a patriotic work of art.
This handsome presentation firearm is a patriotically decorated American firearm honoring all those who were part of the “Greatest Generation” and all who have served since that era. These historic Colt pistols are being released in very limited quantities. We’ve been able to obtain a limited quantity of this pistol for the historic tribute to the men and women who serve and protect our great country.
A Military Legend Returns
Created by genius gunsmith John Moses Browning near the turn of the 20th-century, the American-made pistol was one of the first semi-automatics on the market. It was huge hit with civilians and police officers for decades. Forty years after it was introduced, the Colt 1903 was called to serve.
During World War II, the U.S. military adopted the Colt Model 1903 as a standard sidearm for general officers. The .32-caliber Model 1903 was lighter than the .38s and less bulky than the .45-caliber Model 1911. Its “flat as a book” design and smooth lines proved perfectly suited for an officer on the move. Many officers carried this compact pistol in the line of duty. Among recipients of the officially issued Colt 1903 were legendary generals such as Eisenhower, Bradley, Marshall, and Patton.
As an “old soldier,” the Colt 1903 served dutifully through the forties, fifties and sixties until it faded from service in the early 1970s. The reliable pistol seemed destined to live out its remaining days as a revered relic in the hands of collectors and museums… a less famous relative of the 1911… a footnote in firearms history books. But then something incredible happened… the classic military pistol made a comeback.
Browning’s “Other” Classic Colt
In an agreement with U.S. Armament Corp., Colt has brought back the Colt Model 1903 “General Officer’s Pistol” in all of its former glory. These elegant and historic firearms have the same finish and markings as the original sidearm, including original patent marks and a “U.S. property” mark on the slide and frame.
Many collectors consider the Model 1903 a marvel of simplicity and one of Browning’s greatest design accomplishments. You’ll be pleased to know that the Salute to the Military Tribute Pistol is faithful to the legendary original. It’s iconic profile and single-action blowback design remain intact. In your hands it feels indestructible.
It’s easy to understand why the Model 1903 became a favorite for the U.S. military. A page from Colt’s 1940 catalog described the Pocket Model Hammerless Automatic as “powerful, accurate and utterly dependable.” The copy also claimed that the pistol “has withstood every test of reliability, durability and safety and as an instrument for practical, instant and unfailing protection has no equal.”

All of the pistol’s hardware has been handsomely decorated in 24-karat gold, including the grip screws, slide stop, sights, safety lock and magazine catch. Gold-decorated Rampant Colt medallions are set in the center of each of the checkered walnut grips.
Artwork on the right and left sides of the slide depicts the stars and stripes. Throughout history the American flag has served as a symbol of our national pride and a beacon of democracy for the world. During WWII, it rallied us as a nation, whether flying tattered and half-mast at Pearl Harbor or hoisted triumphantly on Iwo Jima. In peacetime it serves as a constant reminder of the ideals we hold sacred.
In addition to the stars and stripes, the top of the slide showcases custom artwork that honors the legacy of the American military. Toward the muzzle end, a set of dog tags is pictured, emblazoned with the phrases: “Land of the Free, Because of the Brave – Freedom is Never Free.” Those words help us to never forget the sacrifices made by those who served, and continue to serve, in the United States military.
On the top of the slide, you’ll find an impressive portrait of an American Bald Eagle, circled with a banner that reads “Salute to the Military – Defenders of Freedom”. Look closely and you’ll notice the bold contrast of the eagle’s gold-decorated beak and eye against the fine detail of the feathers. Much like our armed forces, the national bird of prey is unblinking, steadfast and always prepared to strike.
