The Spirit of the Wild Tribute Rifle includes Millette’s handsome wildlife portraits of the buffalo, the gray wolf and the bald eagle. Each animal is symbolic of the strength, courage and freedom that are so much a part of the America spirit! Yet by the start of the 20th century, each of these animals was teetering on the brink of extinction.

The Spirit of the Wild Tribute Rifle is a working rifle in caliber .44-40.

To the Native Americans, the buffalo was a symbol of strength. The left inset features three gray wolves emerging from the surrounding woods as if on the prowl. The right inset features the proud American bald eagle perched and overlooking a mountainside with another eagle soaring in the distance.
About the Artist — Raised in South Dakota, Millette’s love and respect for nature is evident in each of her detailed and photorealistic paintings, in which she literally captures the spirit of the animals she paints. A dedicated conservationist in her own right, she has worked with a number of organizations to protect and preserve native wildlife and their habitats.
