Honoring the Enduring Heritage of the Cherokee Nation
America Remembers presents the Cherokee Legacy Tribute Rifle honoring the sacred culture and enduring legacy of the Cherokee nation.
The story of the Cherokee Nation is an inspiring epic of tragedy and triumph. Through centuries of struggle, their courage and spirit have remained strong and the Cherokee people’s legends have been retold for generations. But the recorded history of these magnificent people is only part of the Cherokee experience.
The Cherokee, who call themselves “AniYunwiya” (the “principal people”), lived in the rugged cave country spread through the Allegheny and Appalachian mountains. From the beginning, the Cherokee knew that survival meant living in harmony with the natural world, and they have kept their beliefs alive with a rich and ancient oral tradition of folklore and legend. The Cherokee believed that the Great spirit had created Mother Earth and everything that existed on it. From the highest stars above to the mountains and rolling valleys below. They felt a deep connection with the universe and believed that signs, visions, and dreams linked the natural world to the spirit world. The Cherokee have kept their beliefs alive with a rich and ancient oral tradition of folklore and legend explaining the heavens, the earth and even the meaning of life. Unto this day, generation after generation has continued to be inspired by the timeless legends of the Cherokee Indian.
America Remembers is proud to announce an exclusive Tribute honoring the sacred heritage and enduring legacy of the Cherokee nation: The Cherokee Legacy Tribute Rifle. The Tribute is being issued in association with the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, and specifically to help develop their new Education & Research Wing. Craftsmen commissioned specifically by America Remembers decorate each Tribute in stunning 24-karat gold and nickel against a sparkling, mirror-polished blued receiver with a blackened patinaed background to highlight the details of the artwork.
The Cherokee Legacy Tribute is a stunning and faithful recreation of the Model 1892 Lever-Action Rifle in caliber .44-40 produced by the old world craftsmen of Armi Sport (Chiappa). The Model `92 ranks as one of the most popular lever-action rifles of all time. For this Tribute, we have made arrangements to include the large-loop lever, a favorite of collectors and firearms enthusiasts alike.

The right side features a scene from a classic Cherokee battle between the Tlanuwa, the great mythic hawk, and the Uktena, a giant horned serpent. Across the top are the animals in the Sky Vault (Galunlati), the six stars of Pleiades or Anistusta (“The Boys”) and a Cherokee graphic symbol, representing the noon day sun. Also on the right are symbols of three clans of the Cherokee: the Wolf Clan with hickory branches, the Bear Clan with birch leaves, and the Deer Clan with a cluster of oak leaves. Also featured is a collection of significant figures in Cherokee heritage: two hummingbirds, a tobacco plant, the cardinal (or redbird), the Firekeeper with his Sacred Fire, a Black Bear, the water spider, and a sacred Medicine Wheel.
The left side features a portrait of Selu (“Corn”) and Kanati (“The Lucky Hunter”), who according to myth were responsible for the abundant corn and game in Cherokee country. Across the center, four symbols of the seven Cherokee clans are featured, each with its symbolic wood: the Panther or Blue Clan with ash branches, the Long Hair Clan with a beech branch, the Bird Clan flanked by maple leaves and the Paint Clan with a locust branch. Also prominently featured are Cherokee Eagle Dancers. The eagle is the sacred bird of the Cherokee and is a key figure in their most important rituals.
Whether you have a personal connection to the Cherokee nation or simply admire and honor their spiritual heritage, you will surely agree that The Cherokee Legacy Tribute Rifle is a fitting tribute to the proud traditions of a Native American culture. The legends and heritage of the Cherokee have endured for centuries. Now is your chance to own a piece of history that will ensure the traditions of the Cherokee will continue to live on for many generations to come.
