The Heroes of Texas Tribute celebrates those brave men whose names echo through the pages of history – larger than life individuals who figure prominently in the distinguished heritage of America’s 28th state, the grand state of Texas.
Their courage was unmatched, their spirit unbeatable. Between them, they built a mighty Republic that changed the face of history, and a legend so large only Texas could hold it.Their names were legendary: Stephen Austin, the “Father of Texas” whose vision and determination helped to carve the first successful colonies from the untamed Texas wilderness. William B. Travis, who wrote from the besieged Alamo, “I shall never surrender to retreat…Victory or Death!” Juan Seguin, the Mexican aristocrat who joined the fight against the dictatorship of Santa Anna. Sam Houston, who avenged the Alamo at the Battle of San Jacinto and became the first President of the Republic ov Texas. John Bell Hood, who led the Confederate Army’s Texas Brigade at Chickamauga, Manassas and Gettysburg.
These are the men whose courage, daring and sacrifices shaped the valorous history of the Lone Star State. These are the Heroes of Texas.
Now, these legendary Texans are celebrated with the Heroes of Texas Tribute from America Remembers. For this Tribute, we selected a classic Western firearm that is often referred to as one of the “Guns that Won the West.” The Heroes of Texas Tribute from America Remembers is a meticulously decorated recreation of the legendary Winchester Model 1873 rifle, produced by the master craftsman of Uberti. The Model 73 rifle is considered one of the truly legendary Old West lever-action rifles of the 19th century, and it’s been a favorite for firearms enthusiasts and collectors around the world.
Craftsmen commissioned specifically by America Remembers decorate each rifle in 24-karat gold and nickel with a special blackened patinaed background to highlight the artwork honoring these Heroes of Texas. With a blued steel barrel and hand-polished walnut stocks, the Tribute recreates the timeless beauty of the Model 73 in painstaking detail. The gold decorated hammer, lever, forearm cap, magazine cap and butt plate add to the rifle’s appeal.
The left side of the receiver features a portrait of Sam Houston, general of the Texas Army who achieved a decisive victory against Santa Anna at San Jacinto, despite being outnumbered by a two-to-one margin. To his right is a portrait of Colonel William Travis, and an image of the Alamo, where Travis and so many others died in one of the most celebrated battles in American history. Also featured is a portrait of John Bell Hood, whose valor in the Civil War elevated him to the rank of General in spite of several crippling injuries.
The right side of the receiver features Stephen Austin who engineered the American colonization of Texas in the early 19th century, earning him the title, “The Father of Texas.” In the center is Juan Seguin, a courageous cavalry leader in the war for Texan independence. Behind him is the eagle-and-snake emblem of Mexico, the land of his birth, which he fought when he joined the Texans in their battle against Santa Anna. To the left is an outline of Texas with the “Lone Star” emblem. Each of the images is captured in a stunning combination of 24-karat gold and nickel with a special blackened patinaed background for maximum detail and contrast.
Complementing the Model 1873 rifle’s handsomely decorated receiver are the laser carvings on the walnut stocks, featuring the legend “Heroes of Texas Tribute” on the forearm and a “Lone Star” surrounded by elaborate scrollwork on the shoulder stock. The gold decorated hammer, lever, forearm cap, magazine cap, and butt plate add to the rifle’s appeal.
Order now to celebrate those brave men whose names echo through the pages of history – larger than life individuals who figure prominently in the distinguished heritage of America’s 28th state, the grand state of Texas.
