America Remembers is pleased to announce the striking hand-engraved, jewel adorned Lady Liberty Tribute Pistol. For this Tribute, we selected one of America’s most respected firearms: a working Colt® Government Model® Pistol in caliber .45 ACP.
The Colt .45 pistol is a classic, American-made firearm legend that has defended American freedom through major world wars and history-making conflicts of the 20th century, and continues in use even today. It personifies the generations of Americans who served with it: fearless, dependable, and effective. With its flat slide and virtually indestructible design, the pistol is a masterpiece of simplicity and function; on its own, the pistol is a spectacular example of the gunsmith’s art. When combined with custom, hand-engraved artwork celebrating American liberty, and inlaid with red, white, and blue jewels, this finely crafted firearm becomes an exceptional work of art.
Engravers with years of experience hand-cutting artwork on firearms have been commissioned specifically for this project by America Remembers. Each of these handsome Tributes is fully hand-engraved using traditional, time-honored hammer-and-chisel technique; no two Tributes are exactly alike as each one exhibits its own distinctive depth of detail. The process by which these Tributes are designed is extensive and cannot be rushed
Prior to this engraving, each pistol is polished to a near-mirror finish to produce a background that is the ideal “canvas” for emphasizing the hand engraving. Like the hand-engraving, the mirror polishing is an artisan technique; the number of fine-polishing craftsmen able to do this work successfully has dwindled greatly over the years, and we are pleased we were able to bring aboard these talented craftsmen in order to deliver a truly unique firearm masterpiece.
In addition to the hand-engraved artwork and jewel inlays, this Tribute features classic Colt rosewood double-diamond grips with elegant 24-karat gold screws and a centered Colt medallion. • The right side of the slide features a banner that reads, “The Right Of The People To Keep And Bear Arms,” as stated indisputably in the Second Amendment of the Constitution. Also shown is a hand-engraved image of the Liberty Bell; adopted as a symbol of freedom and liberty in the 1830’s.
• Each Tribute features extensive hand-engraving across the top and both sides of the slide, both sides of the frame and trigger; thumb safety and slide stop, and the grip screws.
• On the left side of the slide, Lady Liberty is centered between a banner that bears the words of Benjamin Franklin, “Where Liberty Dwells There Is My Country.” The face of Lady Liberty is shown prominently with ruby, diamond, and sapphire jewels adorned in her crown, representing the red, white, and blue colors of the American Flag.
