And the main characters are generations of men and women who held fast to the belief that liberty is worth defending and freedom is worth fighting for.

These are moments that defined us, changed us, and made us stronger. Issued exclusively by America Remembers, the Mort Künstler Patriotic Tribute Rifle is a unique collectible firearm featuring detailed recreations of some of the artist’s most memorable paintings.
America’s Artist
Mort Künstler is more than a great American artist. He is a storyteller and a time-traveling tour guide who uses his art to transport you to some of the most significant moments in history. He does more than just create a beautiful picture. Mort Künstler turns his canvas into a window to the past… and then invites you to experience that history for yourself.
When you stand in front of a Künstler battlefield painting, you can almost smell the gunpowder and hear the rifle cracks. The fury and fear on the faces of soldiers fill you with the gravity of the moment.
But you’ll see in this Tribute that Mort Künstler paints more than war. Over seven decades, he has painted the whole story of America. He’s covered everything from early American history to the launch of the Space Shuttle.
Answering the Call of History
Born in Brooklyn and raised during the Great Depression, Mort Künstler seemed destined for a life of creativity. He honed his technique by illustrating covers for men’s adventure magazines and pulp fiction paperbacks. Künstler credits those jobs with helping him learn how to compose action scenes and tell a story.
But it was his work with National Geographic that taught him the value of historical accuracy. After his first one-man show at the Hammer Galleries in New York City, Mort Künstler had established a reputation as one of the country’s most important painters of historic subjects. Then came the commission that changed everything.
In 1982, CBS hired him to do a painting for the mini-series, The Blue and the Gray. Künstler found himself fascinated by the Civil War and would go on to produce over 350 paintings depicting the War Between the States.
The Henry Rifle – An American Classic
Any rifle that wants to be considered a legend needs to earn it. When Benjamin Tyler Henry conceived the first practical, lever action repeating rifle and received the patent in 1860, he claimed that his Henry rifle could give a single man the firepower of a dozen marksmen armed with muzzle-loading muskets.
It became known as the “rifle that you could load on Sunday and shoot all week long.” Its legendary reputation made the Henry an easy choice for this Tribute.
Even better, this Henry Big Boy is manufactured right here in the United States by Henry Repeating Arms, who swear by their motto, “Made in America or Not Made At All.” From the first time you hold this rifle in your hands, you’re going to be impressed. The Henry Big Boy is a well-crafted, modern take on a classic with a satisfying feel, handsome accents and rich American walnut stocks.
• Each side of the receiver features a trio of scenes. The right side highlights three scenes from some of Künstler’s most powerful and patriotic paintings. To the far left is a detail from “Washington’s Watch Chain.” The artwork depicts George Washington, observing the removal of the Great Chain from the Hudson River. At the center is a section of “The Gettysburg Address,” depicting President Abraham Lincoln at the podium and the final scene is from “The High Tide,” reminiscent of Künstler’s Civil War masterpiece, “The High Water Mark.”
• The stylish signature on the left of the receiver distinguishes this Tribute Rifle as an authentic and official Mort Künstler creation. You’ll also find a portion of “D-Day.” On June 6, 1944, American troops took part in the largest seaborne invasion in history. Framed in the center oval of the left receiver is a portion of “The Stars and Stripes are Born.” Künstler’s depiction of Philadelphia upholsterer Betsy Ross stitching together the first American flag. Completing the trio is “Ellis Island – Freedom.”
