For almost 150 years, The National Rifle Association has served as America’s first line of defense in preserving the heritage our Founding Fathers left us. When the NRA was created in 1871, founders Colonel William C. Church and General George W. Wingate were interested in firearm marksmanship: aiming true, shooting straight, and hitting the bullseye.
While it has been, since its inception, the premier firearms education organization in the world, in recent years the NRA has become the leading voice in protecting the firearms rights of all Americans, which are under constant attack. Today’s NRA is comprised of nearly six million avid members who share a common bond – an appreciation of firearms, a commitment to safety and responsibility, and a belief in our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Few organizations are more rooted in the basic values of America than the National Rifle Association, and this historic organization will soon be celebrating 150 years of defending our nation’s right to keep and bear arms.
Today, America Remembers is proud to introduce the NRA 150th Anniversary Tribute Pistol, issued exclusively by America Remembers and Licensed and Approved by the National Rifle Association. For this Tribute, we selected a working Colt® Government Model® Pistol in caliber .45 ACP, a classic American firearm which has played such an important role in defending American freedom.
In the tradition of the finest, handsomely designed presentation firearms, each Tribute in this limited edition of 500 is decorated by craftsmen specifically commissioned by America Remembers. In every phase of its conception, design and execution, and in every detail of its finish, we have held fast to the goal of creating a powerful tribute to this upcoming historic 150th anniversary of the NRA. Each working Tribute in the edition is decorated in stunning 24-karat gold with blackened patina highlights.
Like the NRA, the classic Colt® Government Model® .45 has a long history of defending America’s freedom. Born for combat, the virtually indestructible design of the Colt .45 pistol is a rugged masterpiece of simplicity and function. Nothing hindered this pistol’s performance. The Colt .45 was utterly reliable and awesome in its stopping power. That’s why among active and retired military – as well as dedicated collectors – the Colt .45 occupies a position of respect unparalleled in the world of military firearms. Today, more than a century after its introduction, the Colt .45 remains a favorite among firearm and military enthusiasts and collectors the world over.
Elegant scrollwork decorates the Tribute in its entirety. Featured prominently on the left side of the slide are portraits of the NRA’s founders, William Church and George Wingate. To the left, a banner reads, “NRA 1871-2021,” in honor of the upcoming 150th Anniversary. To the right, a militia member is featured with a musket standing guard, next to a banner reading, “Protecting The Right Of The People To Keep And Bear Arms,” the heart of the Second Amendment, which protects American’s firearms rights.
The top of the slide features a banner that reads, “NRA – 150 Years Of Defending The 2nd Amendment,” and a logo of the familiar American bald eagle with its wings and talons extended atop a pair of crossed rifles and a shield adorned with the stars and stripes from the seal of the NRA.
On the right side of slide, the USA’s national bird, the American Bald Eagle is featured to the left. The banner in the center reads, “The Land Of The Free And The Home Of The Brave.” To the right, the NRA’s 150th Anniversary logo is featured next to a banner that reads “NRA 150 Years.”
Handsomely Decorated Steel Grips
In addition to the elegant 24-karat gold decorated artwork, this Tribute features steel grips which have been designed and produced specifically for this Tribute. Each of the custom made grips is CNC machined from a bar of solid steel, and features 24-karat gold honoring the NRA.
Surrounded by sleek scrollwork on these custom grips is a logo featuring “NRA” in block lettering surrounded by a banner that reads “150 Years.” This logo is also featured on both sides of the slide, next to the hammer. This Tribute is truly a work of art with both sides elegantly decorated in lustrous 24-karat gold, with blackened patina to highlight the details.
