In America, we are blessed with so many fascinating wonders of nature. From coast to coast, our country features every type of terrain, from rural farmland, plentiful woods, the tundra of the Rockies to the grasslands of the Great Plains, and all are inhabited by vastly diverse wildlife populations. Today, we often take our wildlife for granted and find it hard to imagine that only 100 years ago, many species were struggling for survival. It is fascinating and encouraging to see how Americans from all walks of life have joined together in efforts to save many of our most treasured wildlife species resulting in many success stories.
When Lewis and Clark came back from the first transcontinental expedition, they reported thriving numbers of wildlife throughout the United States. However, with the westward advancement of the settlers, the delicate balance of nature was forever altered. With the development of farms and cities, wildlife habitat was greatly reduced and the populations of many wildlife species drastically declined.
With conservation at the forefront, individuals joined together and established the first conservation groups. Today, conservation organizations raise millions of dollars annually to assist wildlife. Through their efforts, their supporters, and through assistance by state and federal wildlife agencies, many of America’s most threatened species have made a comeback. Today, the future is much brighter for America’s wildlife thanks to organizations like Wildlife Forever, and all Americans who assist with time and money.
Wildlife Forever is one of our nation’s leading multi-species conservation groups with thousands of members dedicated to the cause. Their mission is to conserve America’s wildlife heritage through preservation of habitat, conservation education, research, and management of fish and wildlife. Founded in 1987, Wildlife Forever has assisted hundreds of conservation projects over its 25 years, and continues to actively pursue and fund projects to enhance wildlife throughout the United States and Canada.
America Remembers is honored to join with Wildlife Forever for their milestone 25th Anniversary and we wanted this historic issue to be a truly one-of-a-kind Tribute to celebrate Wildlife Forever’s quarter century of conservation. For this Tribute, we selected a Browning BPS Hunter 28-Gauge Pump Action Shotgun, with a 28” barrel and checkered American walnut forearm and shoulder stock, the first time America Remembers has used this specific model for a Tribute. Working closely with Wildlife Forever, our artists have created a museum-quality masterpiece that accurately captures the Ruffed Grouse and Northern Bobwhite Quail, favorites among upland game bird sportsmen. Only 125 Tributes will be issued in this exclusive edition.
Both the Ruffed Grouse and Bobwhite Quail have greatly benefited from the conservation efforts of Wildlife Forever. Wildlife Forever and joint conservation programs have protected and conserved millions of acres of habitat spanning across 34 states. Thanks to this expanded habitat, the grouse and quail populations have had a safe and healthy area to grow and expand. Recently in Pennsylvania, Wildlife Forever purchased a 1,510-acre property and improved the land through forest management with an emphasis on increasing grouse habitat.
The left side of the receiver features three quail taking flight. The image depicts the particular challenge that they pose for sportsmen with their rapid, unpredictable flight patterns.
On the right side, scrollwork frames an illustration of three Ruffed Grouse taking flight in the woods.
Wildlife Forever and its supporters have conserved millions of acres of land like that inhabited by the beautiful Ruffed Grouse and Bobwhite Quail. Both images are framed by elegant scrollwork and two banners commemorating Wildlife Forever’s 25th Anniversary. The highly detailed wildlife scenes are captured by craftsmen commissioned specifically for this Tribute by America Remembers in stunning 24-karat gold on a blued steel canvas and accentuated by a checkered American walnut forearm and shoulder stock and a blued steel barrel.
