When
Darrell Waltrip climbed behind the wheel of his Mercury to compete in his
first NASCAR Winston Cup event, little did he know he was beginning a
career that would help steer the sport into its modern era. Since that day
in Talladega in 1972, Waltrip has captured three Winston Cup championship
trophies, registered 84 victories, was twice voted the series' Most
Popular Driver, and was the recipient of nine assorted Driver of the
Year awards. He has won the Busch Clash, The Winston, and has been
victorious in the Busch Grand National, IROC, USAC, ASA, and ARAC series
as well. One of racing's most influential spokesmen, Waltrip has been a
guiding force in the growth of America's number one spectator sport.
To celebrate Darrell's 25th
Anniversary of NASCAR competition, America Remembers is honored his
remarkable career with the Darrell Waltrip Silver Anniversary Tribute.
Craftsmen specifically commissioned for this project by America Remembers
beautifully embellished the Tribute's receiver in 24-karat gold and
nickel, while highlighting the handsome walnut stocks with intricate laser
carvings.

Left side of the receiver features detailed portraits of Darrell along
with his race car from 1972, his first year on the tour, and a more recent
version of Darrell and his car. The scene is accentuated by his highflying
number 17 and his name dividing the two portraits. |
